Hi, I’m Falina Selchert. I’m a Belle Fourche local, a mom of three boys, a business owner, and the kind of person who believes you fix problems by showing up, not just posting about them.
I serve on multiple local boards and committees because I care about how our town grows, how our tax dollars are spent, and whether families can actually afford to live here. I’m running for Ward 2 City Council to bring more common sense, clearer communication, and a steady voice focused on local issues.
If you see me out and about, say hi. I’m easy to reach, I’ll listen, and I’ll tell you the truth even when it is not the popular answer.
You deserve clear answers, not run arounds. I will push for: Simple, plain language updates on major projects, costs, and timelines Meeting notes and key decisions posted quickly and consistently Clear agendas that say what is being decided, not just vague titles More two way communication so residents can ask questions and get real responses
Your tax dollars should be treated like a family budget, not monopoly money. Ask tougher questions before spending is approved Compare bids and long term maintenance costs, not just the cheapest option Push for clear reporting so you can see where money is going Focus on needs first, wants second
Growth is good when it is planned. Growth is a mess when it is random. Smart planning for housing, utilities, roads, and public services Support local businesses and practical development Keep Belle Fourche a place families can stay, not just pass through
If it affects daily life, it should be a priority. Roads, water, sewer, drainage, and long term maintenance planning Fix issues before they become expensive emergencies Clear project timelines and regular progress updates
A strong community needs places for kids, families, and neighbors to gather. Support improvements that are worth the tax dollars Prioritize safety, maintenance, and smart upgrades Back programs that keep kids active and connected
Decisions should serve residents, not the loudest voice or the best connected. Listen to residents before major votes Encourage more public input, not less Keep the role non partisan and focused on local results
Have questions or suggestions? I would love to hear from you!
